COMPASS
organises 7th largest IT Show of Eastern India
It
was perhaps the best way to usher in the New Year. For
four days between January 11 and 14, 2002, Netaji Indoor
Stadium where the seventh annual IT exhibition of Computer
Association of Eastern India, COMPASS 2002, was being
held, became the one-stop destination for the people
of Kolkata. The City of Joy, by the magic touch of an
invisible wand, turned into an IT hub for four days.
The entire city was abuzz with the latest innovations
of Information Technology.
This year, for the first time, global hardware majors
like Seagate, LG, Kobian and Via Technology etc., directly
participated in the exhibition indicating the growing
importance and relevance of COMPASS Exhibition. In all
85 participants, representing almost all segments of
the IT industry, took part in the exhibition to display
an awesome range of products and services. The participants
included hardware and software manufacturers, service
providers, hardware, software and peripherals vendors,
accessories and consumable companies, computer training
institutes and IT infrastructure developers. The event
housed a total number of 164 stalls and four pavilions.
The
International hard disk manufacturing major, Seagate,
was the main sponsor of the event. This year, by yet
another global hardware major, VIA Technologies of Taiwan
cosponsored the event. The exhibition, in terms of its
variety, size and importance ranks among the top IT
events in India and undoubtedly the largest in eastern
India.
The exhibition
opened new vistas for the IT industry in the region
and helped identify new business opportunities, develop
new business partners and clientele, and chalk out cost-effective
solutions. The Exhibition proved to be the biggest launch
pad for new products and innovative concepts. Besides,
it displayed the latest trends in IT industry and allowed
companies an excellent opportunity to highlight brand
awareness.
COMPASS
2002 was a tribute to the growing significance and role
of the IT Industry in the region's development and its
global integration with IT markets. The exhibition highlighted
this region's capabilities in the key segments of Information
Technology and Telecommunications and provided the broadest
plank for delivering diverse content besides providing
a forum for exhibiting state-of-the art technologies.
