COMPASS 2003

COMPASS 2003 was held on 24, 25, 26 & 28th January, 2003. This year, for the first time, the mega event was segregated into two segments - the Hardware & Peripheral and the Software. The Hardware part was named as IT World and was held at Netaji Indoor Stadium. The Software segment was named as Software World and was held at Sangam Hall in Park Hotel.

The Participants' Meet was held in the evening on 25th December, 2002 at Park Hotel where participants and members with their spouses attended and actively participated in the meet. The evening passed with joy and glamour with choreography by the professionals followed by dance by the members and their families on the floor. This was folllowed by cocktail and dinner. The IT World exhibition for PC and Peripherals was held at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Mr. Manbendra Mukherjee, Honourable IT Minister, Government of WB, inaugurated the event at Netaji Indoor Stadium at 11 AM on 24.1.2003. In his speech, the minister called upon COMPASS to strengthen the IT sector in the state which was duly reciprocated by the President COMPASS Mr. Arun K Jalan. 104 organizations participated in the exhibition.

Amongst the distinguished dignitaries present, were Mr. Sharad Srivastava, GM, Seagate, who are the sponsor of the exhibition and Mr. Richard Brown, Vice President VIA Technology, who are the Co-sponsor of the exhibition. Both of them assured their assistance to COMPASS in cherishing goal of the West Bengal Government in IT.

The Software World exhibition was held at Sangam Hall in The Park Hotel. Sri Rajeev Goswami, President TIE, Kolkata inaugurated the exhibition at 2 pm on 24.1.2003 in presence of the distinguished dignitaries. More than 25 exhibitors participated in displaying software products. This is for the first time in COMPASS exhibition that the software displays were exhibited independently at a different venue.

COMPASS launched IT Directory of Eastern India 2003 in Print Media and in CD which was inaugurated by Mr. Richard Brown, Vice President VIA Technology, during the inaugural ceremony. The Award Nite was gracefully held at Hotel Hindusthan International on 25th January, at 8 PM where various awards on Stall, Exhibits, Presentations, Channel Partners, Hardware & Software of the year were given away in presence of distinguished guests and the members of COMPASS.

On the closing day, Lucky draw was made for the visitors. Gala prizes like, Computer, TV and other electronic and IT related prizes were given away. The mega event came to close at 8.30 pm on 28th January, 2003 with a vow to come back again in 2004 with more surprise and better technology. More Pictures on COMPASS 2003.
