Resellers Meet 2002
The pin-drop silence within the Ball Room of Oberoi
Grand in Kolkata was suddenly broken by a rolling thundering
sound. The logo of Seagate, global hard disk manufacturing
major, flashed on two giant screens, set at vantage
points inside the hall, enveloping 150 strong delegates
at the OEM-Reseller Meet, organised by the Computer
Association of Eastern India (COMPASS), in an ambience
of awe and respect.
The
mood of the Meet was instantly set by a mesmerising
presentation delivered by Seagate's Country Manager,
Mr. Sharad Srivastava. The mood that was set by Mr.
Srivastava held the audience in rapt attention all through
six hours as top managers of VIA Technologies, Kobian,
AMD, D-Link and Jalan Infotech churned out their presentations
to a highly discernable audience one after another.
Eminent principal companies, both Indian and international,
including Seagate, VIA Technologies, AMD, D-Link, Kobian
etc participated at the meet.
Earlier
on, welcoming the delegates and the participating companies,
Chairman, COMPASS 2002, Mr. V.K. Bhandari, said that
the channels were the nerve centre of sales activities
in IT business. Advent of Internet notwithstanding and
direct access to consumers that it offers to the manufacturers,
Mr. Bhandari iterated, the significance of channels
can never be undermined. A facilitator, Mr. Bhandari
said, COMPASS catalyses changes by working closely with
manufacturers and policy makers on policy issues, enhancing
efficiency, competitiveness and expanding business opportunities
for industry through a eclectic range of specialised
services and global linkages.
The
OEM-Reseller Meet, he emphasised, was a part of the
Association's assorted range of specialised service
that COMPASS was committed to the IT business fraternity
of eastern region. The event added to the Association's
gamut of activities and is expected to bring in new
perspective and impetus to the region's IT business.
Mr. Bhandari emphasised that the Meet would open new
vistas and consolidate IT business in this region. The
OEM-Reseller Meet gave the dealers and resellers an
opportunity to interact directly with a few international
titanic manufacturing principals like Seagate, VIA Technologies,
Kobian, AMD, D-Link etc.
The
event provided the dealers and resellers an excellent
opportunity to get first hand information and knowledge
about the products, technology and their policy, which
is expected to help the resellers to chalk out a comprehensive
business roadmap for the entire year. The event was
aimed at to play a key role in enhancing a direct interaction
or establish a direct channel of communication between
the principal companies and resellers of the region.
The OEM Reseller Meet explored emerging IT business
opportunities in the east, roadmap for a sustained growth
of IT industry and emphasised on required infrastructure
for high IT growth.
