Commitment for the Society
While being engaged in business, COMPASS members do not forget about their commitment for the society. COMPASS thrives to build a healthy and prosperous society. COMPASS commits to stand by the needy ones at their distress. The youth are the backbone of the society. Keeping this in mind, computer training centers sponsored by COMPASS are being run to stand by the unemployed youth those who lie below the poverty line.

It was on Monday, the 26th September, 2004 when COMPASS stepped into a new horizon for its social commitment. "Heart to Heart" is a reputed NGO in Salt Lake, Kolkata where they impart education and vocational training to the deaf and dumb pupil. Mr. VK Bhandari, President COMPASS 2003-2004 and Mr. Narendra Dhanuka, Hony Secretary COMPASS 2003-2004, at the instance of Mr. G Jayanth, Executive Committee Member, COMPASS,

went forward to stand by this voluntary organization that has been working for social cause. Computers were given to the organization and a full fledged computer center was set up entirely at the initiative of COMPASS.

Mr. Bhandari inaugurated the Computer Center in presence of Mr. Dhanuka, Mr. Jayanth, distinguished dignitaries and members of Heart to Heart. All experienced joy in their heart when they saw that the impaired children were trying to adapt computer which was quite unusual even few years before.

The students of the center later staged a dance drama which enchanted the audience and made them spell bound. After all COMPASS can vow such proud privilege for such social commitment along the business activities of its members.

Ankur Computer Training Center located at Jadavpur is the first center sponsored by Compass. Ankur is a training center run by Jawaharlal Nehru Museum, Kolkata. COMPASS assisted Ankur in 2000 by sponsoring computers, peripherals and technology to Ankur for imparting training to the needy ones.

Last Annual Certificate Presentation Ceremony was held on 31st July 2004. Here in the picture, Mr. Manabendra Mukherjee, the Minister in charge Information Technology, Govt. of WB is seen giving away certificates of merit to the outstanding students of COMPASS sponsored Ankur Computer Training Center, during the inauguration ceremony of COMPASS 2004 on 13th February, 2004.

Another computer training center started functioning at Amragori, Howrah in 2001 where COMPASS joined hand with Amragori Yuba Sangha for conducting computer training classes. IT infrastructure for the training center including the computers have been sponsored by COMPASS. Certificates are awarded to the successful candidates on completion of their training. Here in the picture Sri Arun K Jalan, the then President of COMPASS is seen inaugurating the center.

Compass always stand by the society when necessity for imminent relief works is called for. Contribution to Kargil victims and their families in 2000 and Rs. 200,000 cash relief to Gujrat earthquake victims in 2001 was made as a part of the association's social commitment.
